Migratek - Rapid Data Migration Services

Proactive PACS Data Migration

Starting Early

"Proactive" migration begins before the replacement PACS arrives, and may even begin before a new PACS is selected. Image data is first copied from the source system to a backup archive. Starting early on data transfer may allow the use of less expensive conventional migration methods and avoid the need to extend the legacy system’s service contract beyond the new PACS go-live date.

The destination archive may be an enterprise archive facility, a limited preliminary configuration of the replacement PACS archive, or a special-purpose backup archive. Migratek can migrate data to any destination archive or can provide the special-purpose archive and migration services in a single package.

Semperdata™ Static DICOM Archive

In 2007 Migratek will offer the Semperdata™ Static DICOM Archive (SDA), which serves as a practical and reliable migration target archive for DICOM PACS data. It takes DICOM data from your main PACS through a data migration input, stores it securely and makes it available through a DICOM Query/Retrieve interface. The SDA is designed to make efficient use of your enterprise resources, storing the archived data on Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices. Customer-provided storage systems can be used, as can enterprise resources for generating off-line backup copies. On the NAS devices, the archived images are stored in DICOM (Part 10) Media File-sets. Thus, the long term usability of the archived data is not dependent on the SDA server or software.

The SDA server is coupled with a migration appliance that copies DICOM data from the main PACS. It can be configured to perform daily backups as well as to gradually migrate historical data from the main PACS to the secure SDA storage.

The Semperdata™ SDA provides a safe, vendor-independent second copy of your PACS data. In addition to providing practical data migration, it reduces your vulnerability to disasters and downtime. It represents the most rapid and practical path to HIPAA Security Rule disaster recovery and business continuity compliance for PACS sites now operating without complete backup.
